Being elected as the President of ISTMA World is not only an honour and privilege but an acknowledgement by the International Tooling Industry of the pioneering work done by the South African Tooling Initiative and the team that pulled it together. The recognition by our Government and all key industry sectors of the strategic importance of a strong and vibrant Tooling Industry towards the development and maintenance of a manufacturing economy along with the need for talent driven innovation is without doubt the building block that has led to its success.
Formed in 1973 by founding members Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom with Fred Peiseler as 1st President, the International Special Tooling and Machining Association (ISTMA) has developed to become a truly global organisation representing the interests of the special tooling and machining industries of 20 member country associations who in turn represent over 8,000 companies with an estimated $70 Billion U.S. dollars in annual sales.
During the next 3 years the ISTMA World Board and its secretariat will be focused to maintain and extend its position as the centre of expertise of the worldwide Tooling industry and the production technologies sciences along with the application of industry 4.0.
